Full course description

1.5 PD Hours

In this session, learn about common language-based learning disabilities (LBLD—difficulties related to the understanding and use of spoken and written language, such as dyslexia), and about specific strategies to support adult learners with LBLD. This session is the first in a series offered by the SABES ELA, ESOL, and Math Curriculum and Instruction teams on teaching adult learners with learning disabilities.

Language-based learning disabilities (LBLDs) are common among adult learners, whether diagnosed or not. This 90-minute presentation will provide an overview of common LBLDs, and will highlight specific strategies and scaffolding for teachers to enhance their direct explicit instruction for these students. The strategies provided can be used across a wide array of courses.
