Full course description
2 PD hours
Digital resilience is the ability to adapt to new technologies and problem solve in technology-rich environments and it plays an essential role in English learners' success across all contexts of adult life - civic participation, healthcare, education, work, parenting, etc.
This session focuses on the key elements that build that resilience: confidence, collaboration, and problem-solving alongside digital skills and digital literacy development. Participants will explore these elements and examine how they interact with English language instruction. Resources include the Digital Skills Glossary and Instructional Guide as well as Digital Resilience in the American Workforce (DRAW) instructional materials.
Upon completion of this professional development activity/course, you will be able to:
- Differentiate between digital skills, digital literacy, and digital resilience, and understand their relationship to language and literacy development
- Use digital resources like the Digital Skills Glossary and Instructional Guide to help learners acquire the language necessary for performing digital tasks in academic, workplace, and community contexts
- Apply a variety of instructional routines to support ESOL learners’ acquisition of language and processes related to digital resilience
