1.5 PD Hours

When we think about bringing up ADEI-related themes in the classroom, the first strategy that may come to mind is addressing racism head on. This, of course, is an important strategy, but is not necessarily the strategy you should lean on the most. In this webinar, we will look at resources that help you take the head-on approach, but we will also look at two other strategies: 1. elevating student voice in just about any lesson (whether the content is ADEI-related or not), and 2. choosing lessons (or creating extensions) that support students to take action and/or advocate for themselves, thus lifting up students as agents of change in their own lives and in their community. You can do all this in the classroom in ways that integrate with your existing lessons and are clearly aligned to the standards for teaching ELA.
