This 90-minute session will first cover ways to diagnostically assess student writing ability as a means of informing relevant instruction. After discussing ideas for possible diagnostic assessments, as well as an objective manner to evaluate students' diagnostic writing, the session will shift to a discussion of meaningful revision tasks based on structured proofreading checklists. The creation of useful grading rubrics for writing will also be covered.
