Full course description
5 PD Hours
Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT), when used effectively, can ignite learning and create rich, rigorous learning experiences for adult students, many of whom come from diverse backgrounds. English Language Arts (ELA) teachers need to acquire knowledge of foundational CRT concepts along with practical strategies for incorporating them into their ELA practice. In this two-session course, we will explore the principles of culturally responsive teaching and make connections to adult students’ learning experiences and outcomes. Participants will leave with tools, resources, and a practical process for using a culturally responsive approach to enrich ELA teaching and learning.
Participants should come prepared to share and engage with their ELA colleagues in group discussions and breakout room activities. Between sessions, participants are expected to complete approximately two hours of independent work.
